Approximately 7 × 5 in
Print created in my own studio.
The original was a mixed media. I used watercolor and seawater, then added the stars with white acrylic.
This painting was an experiment to figure out how watercolor paint would react if I painted with seawater. Salt has an interesting affect when it’s sprinkled on top of a wet wash, so I figured seawater would have to do something fascinating. And I was not disappointed. I collected a jar of ocean water from the Outer Banks in North Carolina and used it as my source water. The result was this lovely adaptation of the Butterfly Nebula. The original was gifted to my father for Father’s Day, but not before I was able to create these absolutely lovely prints with the juiciest blue. This print is my top seller by far!

While I do my absolute best to ensure what you see on screen is as true to life as possible, colors shown on screen may vary slightly from those in real life.
