Why did you pick the name Subtle Value Art?

Why does your style vary?

Good question. My style has been on quite the journey the past few years.

As a young artist, I mostly enjoyed painting the people in my life and the things they treasured using a realistic watercolor style. And then life took me through some radical changes that left me confused and, honestly, pretty broken. I’ve been trying to put the pieces back together ever since. With that, naturally, came a change in the way I create and what I’m drawn to create.

These days, I lean more into an abstracted representational style inspired by neurographic art. I use this art method, journaling, and meditation to explore themes such as introspection, memory, curiosity, learning, and growth. I am now creating for those who are trying to figure out who they are, why they are, and how they fit in to this world.

Do you do commissions?

Currently, I am only accepting memorial commissions because my heart says that’s where I’m needed right now. Please feel welcome to join my waitlist if you are interested in commissioning work from me.

Do you attend art fairs?

I’ve seen you sell cards at markets. Why aren’t they for sale on your website?

Short answer - Shipping is expensive.

Longer answer - I’m putting together package options to make shipping cards more practical/cost effective. I’m not sure yet if I want to do multiples of the same card design or variety packs. If you have an opinion on it, please let me know! I love to hear from you.

Do you teach classes?

I am working on gaining that experience. Stay tuned!

Are the dimensions of your products correct? The size doesn’t match up with the background…

I know =’(

I remove the background around each painting, then paste the image of the painting itself on top of a wood plank background for uniformity. I used to adjust the size of the wood planks to match the changing sizes of the paintings, but I found it didn’t really help with understanding the scale of the paintings as planks can really be any size. Thank you for being patient with me as I work to improve my product photos.
